Radiate: Somatic Music for a Wired Nervous System
Somatic music for a mind that's running too fast.
Toxic frequencies are inevitable, and it’s your nervous system that takes the beating. Jarring moments and daily bristle points are all part of this human experience. Traffic, bills, people who are difficult, unwanted emails, not to mention news headlines full of anxiety. Even on a beautiful secluded mountain top, there would still be something. That’s not pessimism, that’s just part of life.
The ultimate question isn’t whether harmful frequencies will find you. It’s whether your nervous system has been filled up enough with helpful ones to let them pass through rather than take you down with them. The prescription: creating a daily routine of intentionally seeking calm and stillness, ideally in the morning to start the day with groundedness. If not, the harmful frequencies will stack up throughout the day, leaving us feeling exhausted, irritable and braced. We need to regularly return the nervous system to its parasympathetic state (rest and digest), or the toxic frequencies will take us down.
This is where the medicine of music comes in. As someone who picks up on ALL frequencies quite easily, I make this music to help me quickly return to the parasympathetic nervous system. The daily sound activations are the non-negotiable part of my daily routine but these somatic tracks are another weapon against the peace stealing moments, and it can be yours too.
This is RADIATE (found at the bottom of this email). Track number five in my somatic music series: Feel It to Free It. These tracks can be used separately, but they are most effective as a consecutive sound journey. It all depends on how much time you have. These tracks are all 5-6 minutes, they are a quick and easy way to counter harmful frequencies and return to centre.
1. RELEASE
2. RESET
3. RESTORE
4. RECONNECT
5. RADIATE
6. Return (is on its way).
This daily practice is good for your nervous system, and it’s good for the collective. If your mind is running too fast trying to make sense of the chaos around you, or if you simply don't like the frequency you're sitting in, this is how you change it. Let this music be medicine - and let the calm it brings be what you carry back into the world.
Put on your headphones, close your eyes and just let go. Let the music do what it needs to and let your body kinaesthetically respond how it wants to. Whatever movement, small or big, let it happen without judgement…even if you fall asleep, that’s totally acceptable (also, a little nap is always a good choice).
You have to feel it to free it.
